STRICTLY Come Dancing fans have been left irked by a huge wardrobe mishap on the BBC One show.
It came during former Coronation Street star Shayne Ward’s Quickstep with professional partner Nancy Xu, 33, during the show’s first-ever Icons Week.
The duo – who found themselves in the Strictly Come Dancing Dance Off last week – scooped an impressive 35 score from the judges for the routine set to The Beatles track, Help!
Yet loyal fans of the fab four band took to Reddit in their droves to flag the “weird” costumes and “wrong colours.”
They took issue with the fact the pair were dressed in similar get-up to that worn by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Star and George Harrison on the front of the Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
In fact, the track Help! was featured on the album of the same name – not the Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band release – which was the band’s eighth studio album, hitting shelves in 1967.
Meanwhile, Help! came two years earlier, and marked the Liverpudlian legend’s fifth release.
After spotting the historical blunder, fans were left concerned why the duo had worn the outfits in the first place.
One Strictly fan posted on Reddit: “Me suppressing the urge to complain about having Sgt Pepper’s costumes for a performance of Help!”
Another put: “It’s not as if the Beatles didn’t have any other iconic looks! Really weird choice.”
A third then wrote: “I was more annoyed they got managed to get the colours wrong! Shayne as John should have been in yellow and Nancy as Paul in blue.”
Another then mused: “I just complained about this to my husband!!!
“I said, ‘They’re dressed like Sgt. Pepper’s and didn’t do Sgt. Pepper’s!! Rude!'”
One then added: “I said this! Sgt Pepper/Yellow Submarine film outfits and neither song they danced to was on that album/soundtrack.
“Sgt Pepper is one of my all time favourite albums as well.”
Their anger notched up a gear when Shayne ripped off his jacket to reveal the exact same outfit underneath.

One mused: “I was confused when he whipped his jacket off for a costume reveal to have the exact same costume on underneath.”

“I know the costume isn’t necessarily on them of course but someone made the decision.”
Fans were equally annoyed with opera singer Wynne Evans – claiming he had broken show rules by singing live during his routine.
